From a mounted head to a six-kilonewton floor press

Five press families. The choice is driven by part size and the force the joint needs, and then by frequency — lower frequency for bigger parts, higher frequency for delicate ones.

Generator supplied separately: 500×350×220 mm, 7.2–35 kg depending on power. Working tables from 200×300 mm on the WP 450 to 465×410 mm on the WP 3000. Final specification is confirmed against your application at quotation.

A bare ultrasonic head, not a press. Mounted into your own fixture, jig or automation.

Control

How the machine decides the weld is finished

This is the part that separates a welder from a press with a horn on it. You choose when ultrasonics start (trigger) and when they stop (weld mode) — and the right combination is what makes the process repeatable across a shift.

Trigger modes
  • Time — simplest; ultrasonics start a set time after the horn moves
  • Force — start when a set contact force is reached; consistent regardless of part height variation
  • Distance — start at a defined position
  • Touch — start the instant the horn contacts the part
Weld modes
  • Time — weld for a fixed duration. Simple, but blind to material variation
  • Energy — weld until a set joule count is delivered. Compensates for material and moisture variation
  • Weld distance — weld until the horn has travelled a set collapse distance
  • Absolute distance — weld until the part reaches a defined final height. The best control for dimensional accuracy
  • Peak power — weld until a power threshold is reached
The practical advice. Start development in energy mode — it is the most forgiving of resin and moisture variation. Move to absolute distance when the finished height of the assembly is what matters, which is most of the time in a dimensioned product.
Beyond welding

The same press does four other jobs

Staking

Melting a moulded plastic boss over a second component to lock it in place — a metal bracket, a PCB, a lens.

Insertion

Driving a threaded metal insert into a moulded boss. Far stronger than pressing in cold, and it does not stress the boss.

Swaging & forming

Reshaping a plastic feature around another part to capture it.

Spot welding

Joining two sheets or large mouldings at discrete points where a continuous weld is not needed.

Degating & cutting

Trimming sprues and gates cleanly without stressing the part.

Textile cut & seal

Cutting and sealing synthetic fabric in one action, leaving an edge that cannot fray.
